Transforming Singapore’s Live Music Scene for the Planet

Singapore has launched Southeast Asia’s first Music Climate Action Pledge, bringing the global #PlasticFreeParty movement to Asia in partnership with Bye Bye Plastic Foundation.Together, we are working to eliminate single-use plastics from live music events, starting with straws, cups, and bottles, while building a culture of sustainability across festivals, venues, and nightlife in Singapore and beyond.

Why It Matters

Live music is a powerful force for connection but it’s also a major contributor to single-use plastic pollution. It’s time to change the tune.

Through this pledge, signatories commit to:

  • Phasing out at least two of the “big three” plastics (cups, straws, bottles) within 12 months
  • Participating in quarterly learning and support meetings
  • Accessing vetted sustainable supplier recommendations
  • Showcasing collective progress at Music Climate Action Summit 2026

This pledge is practical, action-focused, and community-led, helping the industry transform while inspiring fans and communities to build a better future.

Who’s Behind It

This pledge is led by Sundown Festival, Singapore’s homegrown music and climate action festival

in partnership with…

Bye Bye Plastic Foundation, founded by DJ and activist BLOND:ISH, who has mobilised 1,500+ artists and 100+ venues globally to ditch single-use plastics, and The Wedge Asia.

“Music connects us, and collective action is the solution. The Earth is our dancefloor, and there is no music on a dead planet.”
